Making Exploration an Artform

Work completed for: The Dallas Museum of Art
Role: Graphic Designer (Marketing and Communications)

While working at the Dallas Museum of Art, the new museum director wanted to take the traditional museum magazine, Artifacts, into a new, modern direction. My task was to rebrand the magazine and consider how to marry the classic nature of the museum with a modern design aesthetic.

I first looked for inspiration: what was trending in the design world at the time? Where was design headed? I created my own mockups of Artifacts inspired by my research and developed a new brand toolkit for the color palette, page identifiers, and font styles. Here are the design explorations I presented to museum administration, which were later adopted into the final, published Artifacts redesign.
