In Practice.
As Academic Engagement Associate for Stanford University's Cantor Arts Center, I managed Stanford students who worked part-time as museum education tour guides. My goals were clear: to develop museum educators who represent the quality and diversity of the arts center, and to create a community for these student workers to connect and collaborate with each other.
Alongside my talented colleagues in academic programming at the Cantor Arts Center and the neighboring Anderson Collection, I onboarded new student tour guides and managed a program of nearly 50 students who had completed training and were officially leading tours for the general public and scheduled school groups.
My favorite moments came from our "field trips" to visit colleagues in their unique roles, and our community dinners — where I'd order a spread of food, put on a good playlist, and let the student workers spend an evening just being together.
