Stanford University, Cantor Arts CenterStudent Training Program
As Academic Engagement Associate for Stanford University's Cantor Arts Center, my main responsibility was to hire and train Stanford students to become tour guides for the museum. My goals were clear: to develop museum educators who represent the quality and diversity of the arts center; and to create community for these student workers to connect and collaborate with each other. Along with my talented colleagues in academic programming at the Cantor Arts Center and the neighboring Anderson Collection, we onboarded new student training guides, and managed nearly 50 students who had completed the program and were officially offering tours at the museum for the general public and scheduled school groups.
My favorite moments came from our “field trips” to visit our museum colleagues in their unique roles, and our community dinners, where I ordered a bunch of food, put on a good playlist, and all the student workers could come together for an evening of community building.
